It's a theft a of Pagan holiday(s) (what else is new?) under the guise of some white-washed history (ditto). I'm fine with the idea that it's a time to give thanks (the idea of the Pagan "Harvest Home" festivals) but the happy horseshit about the pilgrims and the "Indians" powwowing makes my inner Howard Zinn scream.
But then, I'm biased. ;^) I'm of both "Indian" extraction (Sioux and Cherokee) and one of my ancestors has been traced back to one of the ships that followed the Mayflower (so yes, my ancestors sat on both sides of the Thanksgiving table as well as owning my other ancestors-- I have a depressing history) which I like to think is the early cresting of why my mother's family fights during nearly all holiday dinners. :^P
