Writer's Block: Capital offense

[Error: unknown template qotd]
I'm against it. I don't believe that it is morally right to kill a person, as much as they might deserve it. Eye for an eye, or kill for a kill? I don't believe in that. It actually disgusts me that we still do this in 2010. I realize some people's crimes are so horrific, that they might deserve to die, but I'd rather see them locked up for life, than support the killing of them.

It's not that I feel for them, or that I support them in any way, it's just that I can't see myself support the death of a person, no matter how much they deserve it. I couldn't care less about the sick bastard who did the crime,  they deserve all the pain in the world for all I care; it's about my morals on the issue.

Which is pretty self-centered and might be wrong, but yeah.

I agree. Teaching people that killing someone is wrong by killing the criminal just doesn't make any sense. If you look at a world map, it's only the U.S, a lot of countries in the Middle East, like Iran, Iraq, Jemen etc, most of Africa, some S.A. countries, China, and Japan were the death penalty is still applied. So I hope that it's only a matter of time...

And even in the US it's on a state by state basis, so it's not even everyone there.

Hahaha then I looked it up and it's actually almost every state that still does it. It just happens that my state is one of the ones that doesn't, so I guess that distorted my perception of how much it's done.

The second part of that question blows my mind. The last execution in my home state was almost a hundred years ago (in 1913). I can't imagine a politician here running on a platform that had something to do with capital punishment.

Oh ikr? It's just unheard of here. Although we did have executions here after WWll.(of the traiters working with the Nazis). But I still can't imagine it today.
