I'm doing the obligatory DON'T LINK TO MY  FLOCKED ENTRIES, OR COMMENTS YOU'VE MADE IN MY FLOCKED ENTRIES, to facebook or Twitter, post. In fact, don't even link to the unlocked ones. Not a lot of you guys are friends with me on Facebook, so I won't worry too much about that, but just in case you're thinking about doing it. Most of my Twitter feed are people I know over the internet, so it's not that serious, but I still don't want it to happen. I don't want my private comments/Entries to be posted as Facebook /Twitter statuses for your/my friends/family to see. Needless to say, this would be an invasion of privacy; if I want people to know about my LJ, I'll tell them. Likewise, I won't link to any of your posts, and I'm sure of this, because I'm not even risking activating this thing;  I don't want to risk hitting the wrong buttons by mistake, so I'm not touching it.

See, the friends I have on Facebook are mostly people I know 'in real life', like my old high school friends, or my family members. I do not want any of these people to know about my LJ; in fact, I've only told a few people I know 'in real life' about my LJ, and they are all people I trust. And the other way around; only a few trusted people on here know about my Facebook, and my full real life name. The life I lead on LJ, is vastly different from for the one I lead on Facebook(when I'm even on it, but that's another thing).

My LJ: A place for my deepest feelings, thoughts, opinions, rants, fangirling, fandom, fanfic etc, all of which I share with my friends on here, who I trust with the aforementioned things. I feel like this is who I really am, and what I really like/ feel; thus, I'd feel a tad vulnerable if everything was to be shared with everyone I know 'in real life'.

Facebook: A public place, a way to keep contact with my friends and family, even the ones who I don't feel particularly close to. Obviously, I do not want slash fanfic, fangirling, and other personal things, to be shared with the people on there. Only a few fandom people are friends with me on Facebook, and I like to keep it that way. I do not want the girl who bullied me in high school to find out about my online journal; no thanks.

In fact, I don't even want YOUR family/friends on Facebook/Twitter, to know about these things. That's how paranoid I am.

This whole thing is a really bad idea imo. Seriously, WHO wants to share these things with people they know 'in real life' ???.

Anyway, now I've put that out there...

ETA: if anyone wonders what I'm talking about, this  [info]news post explains some of it.  These posts also might make the whole thing a little less confusing.

I thought that this commercial had finally stopped running on tv, but to my great displeasure, it wasn't the case. I saw it today, and I literally threw a pillow at the tv and raged. And now, I give you, one of the most sexist commercials of all time:

The point of this commercial it to imply that women don't understand sports, or that they are just plain stupid. The commercial starts with a scene of a football game, but what happens on screen doesn't makes sense, because the commentary is taken literally by the person who is listening, instead of matching up with what the different football expressions actually mean. Like, it shows how they are literally recieving a goal on the middle of the field, instead of showing someone/a team making/recieving a field goal, which is what the commentary actually means. Then it flashes to a women sitting and listening to the sports commentary, and of course she takes it literally, and  of course she  doesn't understand the commentary, because she is a woman. Then it flashes to a text that says "Der er så meget kvinder ikke forstår', which means: "There is so much women don't understand". Basically, the commercial implies that women don't understand sports commentary, and that they take everything literally; they apparently can't understand 'manly things', like sports.

Get it? women don't understand sports or man things! Because the commentary says that they 'recieve a field goal' she thinks that they ACTUALLY RECIEVE A GOAL!  ON THE FIELD! YOU KNOW, AS A PRESENT! hahahahaha isn't that just hilarious.

Fuck this piece of shit commercial. Fuck people finding it funny. Fuck the tv executives for letting this run on TV. Fuck the patriarchal society we live in. Fuck sexism and misogyny being an accepted thing. Fuck the stereotype that women are stupid and weak. Fuck how women are judged upon their looks and treated like objects. Fuck Denmark for making this commercial. Fuck how all this is making me so angry that I almost cry.

And no, I am not overreacting. I am sick of being told that, by everyone, and especially by men. This is my journal, and these are my feelings. If you think that I shouln't be upset by this, then kindly gtfo of this post, or explain yourself. If you don't think that this reinforces stereotypes that women have suffered from, for so many years,  then I would love to hear why and what the punchline of this commercial actually is.

ETA: I'm sorry if this is not translated properly, I did my best.

Critical bystander. I used to love the books, and the first movie, but luckily I saw the light. The abusive relationships, the crappy writing, the shameless Mary Sue/self insert, all became clear to me, and now I strongly dislike it. I'm ashamed that I was ever a fan, but I'm glad that I changed my ways. Twilight is a horrible franchise, that glorifies abusive relationships and lack of talent. It sucks young girls into the books, and it makes them believe that being stalked and controlled by a man is somehow romantic. Besides this, it's also a badly written piece of glorified fanfiction, and the main character is a self-insert Mary Sue.

People comparing it to Harry Potter are doing a good job of making me lose faith in humanity.

Okay,  so I just read this article, about The Daily Shows lack of women, and how the show can be sexist sometimes.

It's true, The Daily Show needs more females on the show, and it's dissapointing to hear about their history with women, it really is. It's a big problem, and it's important to adress.

But that wasn't really what caught my attention in this article.

It was the stories about Jon being a jerk; throwing scripts at someone, having feuds with people, being full of joyless rage backstage, and generally not seeming like a very kind boss, that distracted me from the article's overall point.

If this is true? then it breaks my heart. I love Jon I really do, so much, but this is just so dissapointing to hear, especially when you hear about how well Stephen treats his cast and crew. Is Jon really like this? I mean, of course he is different from when he is on camera, but I did not expect this to be the case.

I feel like a bad feminist/woman because this is what I'm focusing on instead of the patriarchal ways of our culture, but I need to get over my fangirl heart-break before I can deal with any of that .

I really hope this article is disengenious, in regards of how Jon Stewart is like, because if it isn't? then I have definitely lost some respect for the man.

Lets hope that he really isn't like this article describes him to be.

I really can't imagine this to be true and I hope it isn't.

ETA: someone wrote this on TDS's forum on TWOP:  "This doesn't fit at all with what I know. A relative of mine has actually met him and says that both he and his wife are some of the nicest people my relative had met in show business. Granted, this is strictly hearsay, but hearsay from a source I very much trust. I suspect some of what happens is that these people simply aren't cutting it and it just so happens that they're female. I've seen Lauren Weedman on other programs. She's a staple on VH1 and she's not funny.

As for Jon supposedly throwing a script, it's probably true. But haven't we all reacted in a way we later wish we hadn't? Given that it's not a story he tells or anything, I believe that if it did happen he's certainly not proud of it. And I also bet that he was feeling a lot of pressure back then because he wasn't American Sweetheart Jon Stewart, he was Dude With A Basic Cable Show Jon Stewart."

So yeah, I don't know.

ETA 2: Oh you guys; leave it to you to get some Jon-love up in this bitch:').<333

WHAT THE FUCK. THE HELL WAS THAT? NO NO NO. I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS. THEY CAN NOT DO THAT...  WHAT THE FUCK.

SPOILERS!!! )
I'm still going to be watching, but right now I'm not loving it. And I tried to like it, I really did, I was positive about it and didn't hate on any of the characters. But I'm not so impressed when I look at the overall picture. Some episodes were good, but there weren't many that I OMG LOVED!.

Something just went wrong for me, and I'm not sure about what set it off.

ETA: Or rather, I am missing the RTD era, basically.

Hypocrisy regarding misogyny and sexism on the left?

It exists, and I am so sick of it. What makes Bill Maher's sexist drivel any better than Bill O'reilly's? Why is it okay for Chris Matthews to be commenting on the looks of female pundits or politicans, instead of their work? Because they are on the left, we are supposed to 'accept it' or 'chill out', because they are on 'our side'? Hell no, misogyny is misogyny no matter what party you belong to, and I HATE seeing the same people on the left who complain about misogyny and sexism on the Republican side, accept and play down misogyny when it comes to the left.

And yes, the right does this as well, obviously. There are Republicans who fight sexism against Sarah Palin, and then turn around and bash Hillary Clinton using misogynist slurs. These people are hypocrits, I am not defending that.

But this is not about the Republican party, because that is not what I'm talking about here. When I see Republicans say this stuff, I obviously get angry and hurt, like I should, but not as hurt and angry as when I see a supposed 'liberal person', who calls out Republican's sexism on regular basis, turn around and defend misogyny on the left, because the person who said it 'didn't mean it like that' or because they 'agree with other points the person makes'. What makes you different than a republican person defending misogyny on the right?

A Democrat, fighting sexism on the right, who then starts to make remarks regarding Sarah Palin's looks and body, and calls her for misogynist slurs, is no better than the person they were calling out before that.

The Daily Show, which I love and adore, has made some borderline sexist comments in the past, and I call them out whenever I can. It is possible to be a fan and still call out these things, and as long as Jon stewart don't start to regularly making outright misogynist remarks, I can deal with it.

But what I have never heard Jon Stewart say or joke about, is stuff like this, which Bill Maher has uttered/joked about, more than once:

1. In regards of Tila Tequila, he started victim- blaming while using misogynist slurs: http://www.alternet.org/blogs/reproductivejustice/142662/newsflash%3A_bill_maher_is_sexist_and_annoying/.

 2. Him making sweeping generalizations about women in politics and in general: http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/3/2/83236/46536.

3. And finally, here he is, making these remarks regarding breastfeeding: http://guerillawomentn.blogspot.com/2007/09/bill-maher-is-misogynistic-anti.html.

How is that okay? Really? I don't care if Bill Maher has made other great points in regards of other things, at the end of the day he is still a misogynist and I don't care about what party he belongs to. When I see people, that I know, defend this, I get angry and frustrated.

"But women make sweeping generalizations regarding men as well, so it's not sexist, it's just something that people do."

Yes, and that isn't okay either. But do we have a history of oppressing men? Do we have the male privilege in regards of work and social status? Check out this blog and come back to me: http://www.amptoons.com/blog/the-male-privilege-checklist/.

This just really bothers me, and it isn't okay. Am I alone in this? I am sick and tired or seeing progressive people defending statements like these, because it's the left making them.

So, Li contacted me tonight, and asked if she could come over. I was surprised and happy about this, so I said yes. Then she messaged me and said that she had to be home around 09.30 pm, and I was like, oh, uhm, okay, but I still looked forward to it. Then I got another message that said that she had to cancel because her brother got home and she had to leave earlier, and if we could hang out tomorrow. I haven't answered back yet, because I am pissed/hurt.

I'd just gotten myself ready and I really looked forward to her coming over and then she cancels on me, when we haven't even seen each other in ages. Yes, she asked if we could hang out tomorrow instead, and that is all fine and dandy, but she can't just ask me to hang out tonight, suddenly and out of the blue, and then think everything is fine when she cancels. This is so typical, so very her, and it is one of the million reasons that I decided to break off this toxic friendship in the first place. I haven't asked her to hang out since what she did to me on News Years Eve, and I'll be damned if I'll let her into my life again if she keeps doing this shit. For those of you who don't know who she is, Li is/was my best friend since we were 6 years old; we were in the same class, on the same cheer-team, together all through high-school, and very close; and we had fights, so many fights. We were like Yin and Yang; she was blond, popular, confident, and I was darkhaired, unpopular, shy and insecure. Despite all of this, we kept coming back to each other, or rather, I kept coming back to her, even when she broke up our friendship and was bad for me. Around her, I was always jealous, self-hating, insecure, and always, always second best, but I still had a good time with her. Basically, I depended too much on her, and it hurt me. After she had broken off our 'best friendship' as she called it, for the second time (the first time being when we were kids) we still occasionally talked, and I was still depending on her. Then, after she did this to me on New Yorks Eve and ditched me for her new friends, I began to realize (after a breakdown and a talk with my dad) that our friendship was over, and that I would never depend on her again. She has always been bad for me, but I loved her, and depended on her, so I let her treat me like she wanted. Now she wants to talk to me again, and she expects us to just be 'casual friends', but she has no idea that it probably can't be like that for me. Either she is a close friend, a best friend, someone I can't depend on, or she is out of my life. I am willing ot just be casual friends, but I don't know if I can do that.

I still love her, and we've had so many good times together, but I just don't know.

TL;DR: what do you guys say?

1. Jon is a comedian, making fun of people and pointing out their mistake is his job; HE IS UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO BE A JOURNALIST, NO MATTER HOW MUCH PEOPLE SEE HIM AS ONE. I have thought a lot about this and the fact of the matter is: Jon doesn't claim to be a journalist, so, no, he can't be expected to be one. This has nothing to do with 'having guts' or 'being edgy' because Jon is still a comedian; and giving your opinion on things/pointing out stupidity/making fun of people; STILL FALLS UNDER THE CATEGORY OF A COMEDIAN. And he is not the only comedian to do this; he just happen to be more honest and factual than others;  but that still doesn't make him a journalist. Saying that he doesn't go after the people you want him to, not always do hard-hitting interviews,  doesn't matter, because he does his show from his point of view, and is under no obligation to do what the news should. Critisizing the news doesn't mean that he should take it upon himself to fix it, that is not his job. The fact that he is more factual and balanced than the other news channels, is a bonus, and says something about the state of the media; not the state of him or his show.

2. You are a fucking idiot. You say that 'enough liberals do' so it's okay to make generalizations. Well, hmm, most of the teabaggers I've encountered are dumb, racist, ignorant, calls Obama for Hitler, and believe that Obama is the Anti Christ/not born in America. By your account, that makes it okay to make generalizations, right? Except, you don't think so, because it's people you agree with, which makes you, wait for it, A HYPOCRIT.

3. I can't wait for Jon and The Daily Show writers to own you on this; or even better, ignore you, because you don't deserve to even get mentioned on their show; THAT'S HOW PATHETIC YOU ARE. Join the ranks of Tucker Carlson, Jim Cramer, and John Gibson, bb, cuz soon that will be all you have.

I just checked No Fact Zone today, and a person who saw the taping of the last Toss, commented and said that Stephen said that they weren't going to do the Toss anymore:

http://www.nofactzone.net/2010/03/20/daily-show-toss-recap-week-of-31510/#comments

That's right. If this person is legit, there is no more tosses.

But... But.. No. I think I might actually cry. I can't deal with this. WHY?! It's like TCR has grown up and left TDS. They were the last thing that tied them together. This is a sad day guys. I shouln't be this sad about it, but I am. How are we going to see Jon and Stephen interact now? Is this the end? :(

*cries*

DON'T BREAK MY FANGIRL HEART.

I'm not even gonna lie, this is making me sad.

*Goes to watch lots of Tosses*

D': D': D':

Eta: I hope this isn't true, I'm waiting for someone legit to confirm this. It could be someone trolling or making something out of nothing.

Eta 2: It has now been removed from the site because it wasn't veritified, so maybe it wasn't true after all.

Eta 3: I call troll:

'Oh for God sake. You’ve just lost a long time fan of your site. Anyone that was there heard the same thing. And I made it very clear that The Toss may return.

~ so overdone ~

snobbery does not become

U'

lol I don't even... That is NOT what the person said. The person said that Stephen said there were no more tosses. Blah, stupid person.

I'm.... I'm so fucking angry right now... I can't even...Guess who I found a video of on Fox's website? Who was on was on Sean Hannity's program this week? Who was promoting his new book and was actually given some on- air time? One Mr. John Gibson. Remember him? If you don't know who that is, let me show it to ya:

Classy man, huh?

So, apparently, this disgusting piece of shit has been given some time on Fox News, despite all the shit he has let out in the past years. This was the same man who mocked Heath Ledgers death, Rachel Maddows sexuality, and who has been making racist remarks regarding a school shooting. That, and of course making fun of Jon Stewart crying after 9/11 while calling for another event like that, to "bring the country together". Why is he there? To talk about liberal bias of course! And promote his book! He also has to mention how good President Bush was, obviously. Jon is also mentioned as a 'leading leftist' hating on Bush. I can't believe this man dares to actually mention Jon's name.

I swear to God, I hate this man more than anything. I really truly despise him and I would not shed a tear if he got the shit beat out of him. Fucking bastard.

Do you think Hannity did this because Jon mocked him? I don't know, I'm just fucking angry right now.

The video is here: http://www.foxnews.com/search-results/m/27678284/hannity-exclusive.htm#q=jon+stewart

Fuck you Fox for having this man on and fuck you John Gibson for being the scumbag you are.

If anyone of you buy his book, I will be serverly dissapointed. People like him make me hate the world.
